National Science Day:
National Science Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Indira Gandhi Government Postgraduate College, Bangarmau, Unnao, on 28th February 2026, under this year’s theme, “Women in Science: Catalysts Towards a Developed India.” The program commenced with the college Principal, Dr. Vishnu Mishra, who was presiding over the event, offering floral tributes to the statue of Goddess Saraswati and to the portrait of India’s great scientist Sir C. V. Raman, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. In his presidential address, the Principal remembered Bharat Ratna Sir C. V. Raman and emphasized the importance of adopting a scientific outlook among students. He also elaborated on the life, struggles, and achievements of India’s eminent scientist and astronaut Kalpana Chawla, inspiring female students to move forward in the field of science. In conclusion, he stated that the active participation of women in science and research would prove to be a significant catalyst in building a developed India. A detailed presentation on the life, Raman Effect, and other scientific achievements of Sir C. V. Raman was delivered by B.Sc. third-year students Nivedita and Simran. As part of the program, students from the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology presented educational, innovative, and working models. From B.Sc. first year, Komal Devi, Kamini, Mehak, Mansi Kushwaha, Seema, Shanti, Komal Verma, Yuvraj, and Yogendra; from B.Sc. second year, Akanksha Patel, Prachi Srivastava, Jyoti Gautam, Gunjan Singh, Nancy Yadav, Roshni, Gaurav Gautam, Siddharth Singh, and Nitin Singh; and from B.Sc. third year, Apoorva Singh, Mehak Sharma, Sheetal Kashyap, Akhil Pratap Singh, and Sahil Gautam showcased various models. These included number games, logical activities, experiments based on mathematical concepts, attractive image-based representations in the computer laboratory, digital charts and projector presentations, exciting demonstrations based on chemical reactions and principles of physics, a periscope, light-related models, a solar energy-based model for atmospheric pollution control, a chloroplast model, various animal specimens, a working heart model, a kidney model, and a DNA cell model. A major highlight of the event was the working Chandrayaan model presented by B.Sc. second-year students Prachi and Akanksha, which clearly and effectively explained the functioning of the lunar mission. On this occasion, Dr. Digvijay Narayan, Dr. Savita Rajan, Dr. Sunita Nirankari, Dr. Hari Om Diwakar, Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Dr. Suman Devi, Mr. Sandeep Awasthi, Mr. Vinod Maurya, Mr. Basant Lal, Mr. Kanhaiya Lal, Mr. Balram, Mr. Jitendra, Deshraj, Shivam, and students from various faculties were present. The successful organization of Science Day was carried out under the able guidance of the faculty members of the Science stream, including Dr. Ravi Raj Verma, Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Dwivedi, Dr. Abhay Rajput, Dr. Shailja Tripathi, and Dr. Brij Kishore Gupta. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Ravi Raj Verma, In-charge of the Department of Chemistry, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the Principal and all faculty members, teachers, staff, and students from various departments for their valuable presence and support.Uploaded on: 3/6/2026 8:29:54 PM
